First year, by Sam

For me the start of uni included such things as:

Meeting a guy whose name sounds like something out of a cartoon - Found one of my best friends..

Asking this same mate the name of the cute girl who we were just talking to, only to find out she was still standing behind me - learning the name of my future girlfriend.

Pointing out to a guy wearing a 8 year old's superman outfit that it doesn't come down over his nipples* - meeting my other best mate. And it was still only week 2!

ImageOther courses fail in comparison to Engineering when it comes to afternoons of fun and nights of getting loose. Two weeks into my course I'd met a ever expanding group of wacked up, crazy, party loving, good quality people. Mean while my friend in Arts was still trying to find out the name of the guy he sits next to in his tutes.

What's the difference? WE DO MORE

.

To all 1st years my advice is:

Spend lots of time around uni, there is always something going on. Thursdays will become your new Saturdays.

GO! To Beer and Bangers and First Year Camp.

At these two events you'll be thrown together with plenty of other 1st years and the rest of the engo crowd. Music games and plenty of social lubricant will guarantee you have fun while engaging in shenanigans that will be the foundation of your uni day stories.

*Ed's note: it covered my nipples most of the time!
