| When you’re coming to and from uni you’ve got to remember that safety must be your first concern. Travel with a friend and avoid people that look like they want to rob you. When you leave Redfern station you will discover that there are many people that are asking for some change. I have found that instead of giving them change and encouraging them to ask for more the next day, make an investment in a pair of cheap headphones. Just before you get off the platform and leave the train station put the headphones on and put the other end in your pocket. Now walk quickly through the hoards of people and ignore them. They will presume that you are listening to music and simply didn’t hear them asking for change. If you feel bad about not helping your fellow man you can be assured that they will be there the next day if you feel that they truly need some change. Once you have walked through the masses of people asking for change, take off your headphones and replace them in your bag to use when you are going back to the train station. Repeat for continued results. Or, if you’re going to pretend your talking on you phone as you walk past, expect to one day have it ring and make you look the fool.
As far as directions go, turn left out of Redfern Station and follow the mob all the way down along Abercrombie St, turning right into Shepherd St. There's a new fancy walkway that is nice to walk on, but will actually put you a little bit out of your way. Ignore the walkway and go down the driveway to its right. Turn right, following the driveway and you'll end up in the Engineering area.
(There's a sneaky alternative route, but I'm hardly about to take the fun out of discovering it.)
