Introduction to SUEUA, by Pat James 2009 President

Since 1922 the noble souls of SUEUA have engineered, drunk, debauched, copied, studied, written, calculated and team worked their way through one of the most challenging (but very rewarding) degrees on offer at the university to become (relatively) productive members of society.

SUEUA is an organisation steeped in a rich and vibrant tradition, from our annual First Year Camp, to BBQs and Kegs on the engo lawns, slip and slide, the harbour cruise, the Ball and of course Beer and Bangers a night where the PNR courtyard is turned into a writhing mass of SUEUA members (past and present) cutting loose.

These are events, activities and traditions passed down for generations of Sydney Uni engineering students. As well as these traditional events that always happen, each year SUEUA tries to bring new and different things to the table, from Karaoke nights, open air film screenings and jumping castles to keep you all interested and engaged in campus life.

SUEUA also participates in the interfaculty sporting competition, in which a different sport is played each week in an epic tournament to decide the most sport like faculty.

On top of the benefits to study SUEUA also provides invaluable networking opportunities, allowing you to meet and interact with your classmates who you will one day work with as well as senior engineers and employers, who in a couple of years time you’ll be harassing for a job. I speak from experience as I am currently working in my dream job and it is only because of the contacts I made during my time with SUEUA.

So join SUEUA and all the other engineering societies, get involved and make the next 4-5 (maybe more?) years the best of your life.
